J.Doherty (2)

Bromleians Sports 2
A.Keroma
S.McKenzie

Much has been said over the years regarding the beautiful game.

The best analogy that sums up football is that famous old phrase 'It's a game of two halves!'

Today's encounter (Bridon Ropes v Bromleians Sports) was just that.

Bridon again had to shuffle the pack due to the absence of Scotter, Wilton, Northover and Crook.

Into the starting line up came Onasanya, Martin & Drysdale.

The game kicked off and Bridon were an absolute mess.

We didn't work hard enough, couldn't pass and seemed lackluster.

The first opportunity for Bridon came as early as the 5 minute when a good cross from the right found Drysdale whose header cleared the cross bar.

Bridon then seemed to return to the pre Xmas form that had seen them at one time sink to the foot of the table.

After approximately 15 minutes Bromleians went in front.

Good work down the left saw a cross swung in and it was met by the unopposed McKenzie who headed in. 0-1.

The game then seemed to get niggly.

Bromleians 'Gazza' was lucky to stay on the field when the referee failed to spot 'Gazza' smack Martin in the face.

Gazza then decided that it would be his mission to enter his name into the referee's book with some stupid tackles and a lot of verbal.

This happened shortly before the interval. But Gazza still found the need to question why he had been booked!!!

Bromleians went further into the lead when a free kick from Keroma was deflected in past Scotter. 0-2.

Bridon came out after half time and dominated the game.

Another cross this time by Doherty found Drysdale whose header again just cleared the cross bar.

A mazy run by Thomas saw him beat a few challenges before being halted by the Bromleians keeper. Penalty.

Up stepped Doherty. 1-2

Bridon were back in it and looked likely to score more.

Further chances were missed and Bromleians remained pinned back in their own half for long periods of the 2nd half.

With about 10 minutes to play a back pass saw the Bromleians keeper collect the ball only for the referee to award an indirect free kick.

From the resulting free kick Haxell rolled the ball to Doherty who found the back of the net. 2-2.

Bridon continued to push and a late run saw Thomas make his way into the box.

Unfortunately his cross-come shot was neither on target or close enough to Haxell to give Bridon the 3 points.

Another valuable point for the Ropes!!
